The Stark Covered Bridge in Stark, NH, was built in 1862 and spans the Upper Ammonoosuc River. This bridge uses a Paddelford truss system, with reinforcements added over the years for extra support and durability. When the town wanted to replace it with a steel one approximately 50 years ago, the popularity of this bridge kept it from being destroyed.
